The inspiration for composing 'Feel the Sun' came from my many years of work as a guitar teacher. Over the years, I have been writing exercises and pieces that not only had a methodical aim but also attempted to cater more strongly to the current musical tastes of young people in order to give them greater encouragement to practice. The result is 12 colorful and interesting pieces for intermediate level. The level of difficulty lies between 2 and 4 (on a scale of 1-6). The technical requirements include a wide range of playing techniques, such as apoyando (pressing), and tirando (plucking), changing position, simple barre fingering, legato, various chords, and changing time. Michael Erni was born in Otten, Switzerland, in 1956, studied guitar at the College of Music in Zurich, as well as the Conservatory in Bern. He is a wide-ranging concert performer, in addition to having recorded works including guitar concerti by Vivaldi and Giuliani on TV, Radio, and CD. As a composer, Mr Erni has written works for a variety of chamber music ensembles, including three concerti for guitar and orchestra.
