Anyone who learns a melody instrument such as the violin probably also feels a desire to perform in an ensemble or perhaps even in an orchestra. Why not start up a club with colleagues or friends who have decided to pursue the same hobby? The present collection of arrangements for three violins was prepared for this type of group: people who are still in the early stages of taking lessons but already want to gain some experience in ensemble playing. The title chosen for this edition, Fiddle Club, shows that this is not a compilation of longer classical works for violin. Instead it combines traditional songs from Germany with international folk songs, alternating mainstream rock and pop tunes with traditional favorites. Added to this are other styles from current popular music such as a waltz with a Country and Western feel, spirituals, the driving rhythm of a dance with Caribbean flair as well as robust ragtimes. Transcriptions of classical compositions round out the collection. The purpose of this edition is not only to spark the joy of playing and cultivate skills in ensemble playing, but also to reflect the variety of today's music scene with easily playable examples.
