How Pleasant is this Flowery Plain, -ScP. Contributors: Purcell. Recorder with Keyboard or Continuo (AA,s,t,Bc). Score and Parts. Publisher's category: Recorder with Keyboard or Continuo.

For soprano and tenor voices, 2 alto recorders and basso continuo. Main score, 2 vocal scores and parts for 2 recorders and basso continuo.
Characteristic of the Italian Baroque, this chamber cantata is Purcells culmination of several hundred years of beautiful madrigals and arias for voice and basso continuo by Caccini, Carissimi and Scarlatti, into the present evening entertainment work, printed in 1698. The work begins with a symphony for two alto recorders and bc, with stately dotted rhythms, and follows with quicker triple meter contrapuntal music. Some of the best examples of Purcells composition.
