Echoes of Bach

This work in a trio sonata for two-manual organ and pedal; both treble voices chase each other like an echo in the distance of one quaver. The unison echo in the first movement slowly becomes a sixth echo in the second. The same principle is continued and extended in the third movement, where both parts alternatingly switch their roles. The employed motifs are all taken from well-known compositions by J.S. Bach, a fact referred to by the intentionally ambivalent title. The decidedly baroque tonal language is supplemented by slightly jazzy idioms and is sometimes structurally reminiscent of minimal music.
