Of the three known compositions of Richard Jones, who was leader of the orchestra at the Drury Lane Theatre in London, only one is devoted to keyboard music: Suits or setts of Lessons for the Harpsichord or Spinnet, published about 1732. The various piece s fromthese suites, which have been slected for this album, are particularly tuneful and give a good idea of 18th century dance rhythm.
