The Minuten-Album contains pieces in many different styles: classical piano setting meets jazz elements, Bach meets the Beatles, modern idiom stands alongside the traditional mode of expression. It is a small compendium of the diversity of our means of musical expression and a mirror of our piano universe. In addiont to practicing and playing these pieces, it is also a matter sharpening the senses in general and the ears in particular and following the individual styles. There is no better way to learn how to really swing" and how to give a baroque or classical work an appropriate sound, than from many of the great masters. Each piece is preceded a short text which not only is intended to be informative and motivating, but can also be used as to introduce pieces during a concert. Individual pieces or movements can be combined as one pleases to form a little suite or played alone. It may be particularly intriguing - as 'Blues for Elise' or 'Thinking of Scott Joplin' suggest - to juxtapose pieces of a certain genre with similar works by great composers.
