di Lasso was an enormously prolific composer, known to have written over 200 works in virtually every style ranging from German drinking songs to Italian madrigals and French chansons through works in Latin for the Roman Catholic Church. Oddly, no purely instrumental works by him have yet been discovered. In these instrumental transcriptions, the top line may be played either by an alto recorder reading up and octave or a renaissance style soprano recorder with a strong lower register.
