This short piece was written for the U.S. State Department's 40th Anniversary celebration of the Fulbright program in Ecuador, and is (according to the composer) "about uniting the North and South [Americas].".
The opening is a mini 'Condor Song'. After an encounter with the Eagle and ensuing conflicts and dramas, the Condor peacefully soars away above the highest Andean peaks. (quote from the composer). -- "There are frequent meter changes, accidentals, and tempo fluctuations to indicate this motion." (Flute Talk, January 2008).
