Perkussion in Aktion. Score and parts. A virtuoso miniature/short character piece for 4 bongos, timbales and drum set. Highly rhythmic, with Afro-American roots. Great as a recital opener or encore.
The actual difficulty is set much by the selected tempo, and since none is indicated, younger performers would give an effective and accurate performance at a more conservative tempo while an advanced group could liven the tempo for a more dramatic and impressive presentation. There are a large number of free solo passages lasting only one or two measures for both the bongos and timbales. The drumset part..generally provides rhythmic support for the other two players.--F.
