Piano Trio in d minor Op.11.
Hensel, Fanny Mendelssohn.

Piano Trios.
For: Vln.Vc-Pf.

Set of parts.
Fanny Mendelssohn (later Fanny Hensel), sister of Felix Mendelssohn, was born in Hamburg on November 14, 1805. Like her brother, she displayed prodigious musical ability at an early age. Unfortunately, she did not receive the same encouragement and support as he (her father wrote to her in 1820, "Music will perhaps become his [Felix's] profession, while for YOU it can and must be only an ornament."). Felix himself, on the other hand, was extremely supportive of her as composer and pianist (her public debut as pianist came in 1838, playing his first piano concerto). Fanny Mendelssohn Hensel died on May 14, 1847, complications from a stroke suffered while rehearsing Felix's oratorio, Die erste Walpurgisnacht. The present piano trio is, perhaps, her best-known work.
