All we know about Emmanuel Guérin is his date of birth: March 3rd, 1779, and that he was a cello player at the Théâtre Feydeau in Paris for a quarter of a century. That is where he wrote most of his compositions-all of which use the cello, his instrument, for chamber music works. As there are hardly any compositions for the rare instrumentation cello/double bass, this work is a welcome enrichment. On account of its simple structure, no score was created.
