Concerto in A Minor -ScP. Contributors: Scarlatti. Recorder with other Instruments (A,VV, Bc). Score and Parts. Publisher's category: Recorder with other Instruments.

The Neapolitan court music director and conservatoire director Alessandro Scarlatti (1659-1725) was - as Johann Joachim Quantz says in his autobiography — "not only one of the greatest contrapuntalists of his age, but also one of the most prolific composers of all time". Only a few of the many thousand works which he wrote have been republished so far. As with Georg Philipp Telemann, whom he resembles for productivity, nearly every composition that emerges from the archives, reveals new, original characteristics. When Scarlattis famous pupil Johann Adolf Hasse praised his teacher as the "greatest master of harmony" he probably had in mind the balanced way in which he used his resources.
In the present Quartet the recorder blends its lines with the violins and also confronts them solistically - no doubt it is this dual function that the double title Concerto and Sonata is intended to convey.
17 page score with parts.
