Giovanni Battista Cirri was born on October 1st, 1724 in Forli, Italy. He lived in Paris during the first half of the 1760s, and settled in London in 1764. He played violoncello solos at the eight-year-old Mozart's first public concert there, and also participated in the Bach-Abel concerts. In 1780 he returned to help his ailing brother, succeeding him as "maestro di cappella" at Forli Cathedral in 1787. Cirri died in Forli on June 11th, 1808.
