Hans Faehrmann was born in Lommatzsch, Saxony (present-day eastern Germany), on December 17th, 1860. His works include numerous Lieder and choral compositions, several chamber works, two oratorios, three concerti for organ and orchestra, and many pieces for solo organ, of which the fourteen grand sonatas constitute the centerpiece. Faehrmann died in Dresden, on June 29th, 1940.
