Felix Draeseke was born in the Franconian ducal town of Coburg, Germany, on October 7th, 1835; he suffered a stroke and died on February 26th, 1913, and is buried in the Tolkewitz cemetery in Dresden. The present string quartet was composed in 1886. composed in 1887.
