The Kings Music, Vol 2 -sc. Contributors: King Henry VIII. Recorder Trios (ATB). Score. Publisher's category: Recorder Trios.

Henry VIII, King of England, lived from 1491 to 1547, ascending the throne in 1509. A man of comprehensive culture, he also spoke French, Latin and Italian, and had a thorough grasp of mathematics, geometry and astronomy. He was considered one of the best archers in his country, and loved hunting and falconry.
His favorite hobby, however, was music, which held an important place in his life. Among other instruments, Henry played the lute, the organ and the virginal, his favorite instrument being the recorder. An inventory drawn up in 1547 lists 79 recorders belonging to the king.
Besides being an accomplished instrumentalist, Henry VIII also went in for composition, and some of his songs and instrumental pieces have survived.
The present edition presents a selection of three-part pieces from the repertoire at the kings court. These attractive pieces are suitable for recorders (ATB) or other melody
