"The Return of Odysseus" is a new CD with three compositions by contemporary U.S. composer Robert Raines. The CD is released on the MSR Classics label and features some very exciting contemporary music for flute. Included on the disc are "Echoes of Sarah" for flute ensemble, "Ménage a Trio" for flute, piano, and bass clarinet (optional cello or clarinet parts are available as substitutions for the bass clarinet part), and "The Return of Odysseus", a complete ballet for full orchestra in seven sections. "Echoes of Sarah" and "Ménage" are both soon to be published by Falls House Press and will available on this site. Both of these pieces have had successful performances in the United States and Europe including performances at the National Flute Association convention in Kansas City in 2009. Robert's composing style may be described as modern, yet accessible, and written at a moderate level of difficulty.
