Glorian Leopold Gassmann was born in Most (Czech Republic), on May 3, 1729. He belongs to the transitional period betwixt the Baroque and Classical periods, and was one of the principal composers of Opera Buffa just before Mozart. His daughters were both famous singers trained by Salieri (one of them became particularly famous as an interpreter of Mozart). Gassmann died in Vienna on January 21, 1774.
