The duets 'lieto' (glad, happy) and 'carino' (pretty, nice) are both similar in form: after a short introduction there follows the first section, the 'theme', as it were, which is repeated -- in each case in a closely related key -- in the central section. The duets finish with a coda. Both duets do justice to their names. They are uncomplicated, merry and tongue in cheek. I wish everyone who plays them lots of fun and enjoyment. -- Theo Kinder (first president, Friends of the Flute).
