These elementary pieces are based on an unusual idea. All the white note modes are used, interspersed with pieces in modes derived from the black notes. The final piece introduces an element of bi-tonality, with the left hand on the white notes and the ri ght hand on the black. The composer has also incorporated a number of different musical forms, so that the aim is educational in more than one sense.
