Helmut Walcha was born in Leipzig, Germany, on October 27, 1907); he died in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, on August 11, 1991. He was a blind organ virtuoso who specialized in the music of the Dutch and German baroque period; he is most known for his recordings of the complete organ works of Johann Sebastian Bach.
