Helmut Walcha was born in Leipzig, Germany, on October 27, 1907; he died in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, on August 11, 1991. He was a blind organ virtuoso who specialized in the music of the Dutch and German baroque period. He is most known for his recordings of the complete organ works of Johann Sebastian Bach.
